White Boy And The Average Rat Band will release their new song and video Holy Cow on 2/03/22.
The song is front running the new album which is due out by late spring early summer of ’22. The project will be the bands third effort since their self titled highly collectable debut album in the early 80s. It also marks a departure from the Heaven And Hell Label.
The song Holy Cow was written and recorded by Michael Matney during summer of 2020 and the heart of the pandemic. During that time Matney suffered a tragic personal loss with the death of his mother. That loss combined with the nightly bombardment of images on the nightly news of the pandemic as well as chaos, riots, political and social unrest caused Matney to do some real soul searching. Holy Cow goes back to the Roots of White Boy And The Average Rat Band, catchy riffs, searing leads and thought provoking lyrics.
Since Heaven and Hell Records' 2017 well-received reissue of the 1980 debut album by WHITE BOY AND THE AVERAGE RAT BAND, the band has enjoyed a renewed interest in their unique brand of rock and roll. The release was followed by a national tour taking the band up and down the East and West coasts. It has afforded the band the opportunity to look to the future.
Mike Matney and the guys under the guidance of Heaven And Hell Records' Jeremy Golden, knew that in order to stay relevant they had to produce some new material.
Our first album was released in 1980 and is highly sought after by collectors worldwide. As recently as 2018 it has sold for as high as $800 a copy. The band has developed an underground cult-like following of die hard fans and music critics. In the fall of 2018 the band was signed to heavy metal label Heaven and Hell Records. The band has since embarked on the “Back In The Rat Race Tour” playing iconic venues across the United States including dates in Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Seattle, Portland, Las Vegas, and The World Famous Whisky A- Go-Go in Hollywood, CA. Thanks to the efforts of two separate public relation firms, countless interviews, reviews, articles and airplay there is officially a buzz in the rock world about White Boy and the Average Rat Band.
